The Philosophy Behind Modern Bedroom Furniture
A modern bedroom is one decorated in a manner that conforms to and perhaps embellishes modern design values. The modern design philosophy values simplicity, a “less is more” aesthetic that resonates with the contemporary spirit. Generally, this means that for your furnishings to be considered modern bedroom furniture, they have to be indicative of a characteristically modern minimalist aesthetic.
The first thing you need to do when attempting a modern design is clean, clean, clean. De-cluttering your bedroom and getting rid of all those unnecessary furnishings and decorations that take up space in your room is a good start. Your goal is to have a quite meticulously organized room delineated by simple, straight lines. To that end, you will also want to lose any round, flowery, ornate antique furniture in exchange for some sleek, streamlined, and stylish modern bedroom furniture. And it’s often easier to design your modern home when you’ve gotten rid of any extraneous (and hard to organize) goods.
The second step is to find a theme that works. Most contemporary bedrooms opt for a high contrast color 
scheme which usually manifests in lightly colored walls and dark-wood or black furniture. For example: white sheets on black platform beds are visually dramatic and impressive. But just because these furnishings are simple, don’t assume that their presence is subtle. On the contrary: modern bedroom furniture is often displayed quite prominently in the bedroom to give the space some added flair.
For accessories like pillows and lamps, have them complement your platform beds and furnishings, but they shouldn’t overwhelm the room. Consider placing a silver lamp on your nightstand, or ornamenting your modern bed with a red throw pillow. With a little inventiveness and a “less is more” philosophy, you will be well on your way to having a stylish modern bedroom.

Nice post. I agree that the modern design philosophy values simplicity, a “less is more” moto. The aesthetic of modern furniture resonates with the contemporary spirit and so they are in demand right now. Modern furniture changes the look of every room they are placed into.
